Christ yesterday and today. The Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega. All time belongs to him. And all the ages. To Christ be glory and power Through every age and forever. Amen
These are the words we prayed as we privately blessed the new Paschal Candles for our churches this past Holy Saturday. These words are a powerful reminder of the sovereignty of The Risen Lord and of the cosmic scale of our life in Christ. In this time when we live in isolated ways and the future seems far from predictable, we have been called to walk in the new path of Jesus.
Two millennia after the finding of the empty tomb, the Christian community has created ways to express the essential faith through creeds and proclamations of faith: Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again. Perhaps what we are experiencing in the current pandemic brings us closer to those first disciples where their fear and joy lived in them at the same moment, where doubt was met by possibility and the mystery of God’s love began to unfold in new ways.
Francis has called the church to creativity in meeting the needs of our time. We will need all of you as we find creative ways to strengthen our bonds and care for one another, not only in the coming weeks but in the months and years ahead. Like those who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus, we may argue and debate with one another, but in the end we are bound together by the One who transforms, challenges and enlivens us - the Risen Jesus, our beginning and our end.

An Act of Spiritual Communion by St. Alphonsus Ligiori My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Buddy's Prayer From Brenda Becker, inspired by seeing Buddy in the recent liturgies.
Thank you, O Lord, for being my gracious Master, And welcoming me into your House. Grant me the faith to follow you closely, The fidelity to remain by your side, And the patience to listen attentively to your Word. May I do you reverence simply by being myself, the creation of your loving Spirit. May I dwell in the present moment, without anxiety for the future or distress over the past. May I lighten the hearts of humans by my very presence, receive their affection with simplicity, and return it with kindness. And may I model obedience, humility, and gratitude All the days of my life, giving honor to my Creator and comfort to all who meet me. Amen.
