In 1995, 100 years after the birth of cinema, the Vatican compiled a list of the most significant films, with entries varying from the somewhat lighthearted “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) to the challenging arthouse “Seventh Seal” (1957). However, they all shared that each explored something fundamental about the human condition, such as religious faith, love, suffering, pursuit of justice, morality, and ultimate meaning.
Using this list as inspiration, Fr Anthony and parishioners Camille Branda and Sam Centore have chosen films significant to each of them based on this criteria. Each session will begin with a brief introduction to the film, followed by a showing of it in its entirety. (All films are under 90 minutes.) Afterwards, there will be a moderated discussion.
